Each cover featured a different character or characters packaged above the main cover featuring Harry, Ron and Hermione. Upon its release, the soundtrack was available in one of five different collectible covers. John Williams did compose and conduct the scores for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Chamber's sequel, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. From what can be heard in the soundtrack, there are six main new themes: one representing Gilderoy Lockhart, one representing Dobby, one representing the Chamber of Secrets, one representing Myrtle Warren, one representing Fawkes the phoenix, and one representing the spiders. The music was performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. Ultimately Williams composed most (if not all) of the score, though Ross conducted the scoring session and retained "adaptation" credit. He therefore asked composer William Ross to finish the score, if need be, adapting Williams' themes. Because of scheduling commitments Williams was concerned he would not be able to deliver the complete score. The film's scores were composed by John Williams. The Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets original motion picture soundtrack was released on 12 November, 2002.
